The performance of the French band Nouvelle Vague has been moved to Drizzly Grizzly. On April 12th, we invite all concert enthusiasts and current ticket holders to ul. Elektryków 4 for a dose of great music.
The band was founded in 2003 by Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux as a one-time tribute to post-punk songwriting, but in a completely different musical style—bossa nova. The covers featured on their 2004 debut album gained recognition, turning Nouvelle Vague into a musical phenomenon.
A phenomenon that not only skillfully captured the power of legendary compositions such as Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, Guns of Brixton by The Clash, or A Forest by The Cure but also reimagined them in a musical style one wouldn’t expect from post-punk anthems. Darkness was replaced with sophisticated sweetness, and unease transformed into tropical relaxation.
This is bossa nova—a Brazilian music style based on samba rhythms, developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro.
