SIKSA is a feminist duo consisting of vocalist Alex Freiheit and bassist Piotr “Buri” Buratyński. The band’s name is derived from Yiddish, meaning a young woman perceived as vulgar and immature. Their concerts are a blend of punk energy, performative poetry, and contemporary dance, making each performance a unique and dramatic experience.
The duo draws inspiration from personal experiences, fairy tales, legends, and a reality transformed by their uninhibited vision. In their work, they merge personal and political themes, creating a raw and intense atmosphere on stage. Their music is full of provocation and feminist manifestos, challenging listeners.
SIKSA has performed over 300 concerts across Europe, in various venues ranging from small clubs and squats to art galleries and major music festivals. Since early 2023, they have been on tour with the concert season titled “…and the She-devil bangs with a bass,” promoting their latest works.
The title “…and the She-devil bangs with a bass” is a metaphorical story in which Alex describes herself as an unadapted and problematic She-Devil, whose language is chaotic but full of passion. Her performances are dynamic and emotional, and when combined with Piotr’s intense bass, they create an unforgettable show.
