Marco Polo

Marco Bruno, professionally known as Marco Polo, is a Canadian hip hop record producer renowned for his influence in the hip hop genre. Born on December 26, 1979, in Toronto, Ontario, Marco Polo has Italian roots that add to his rich cultural background. His journey in music began in Toronto where he attended an audio engineering school, honing the skills that would later define his career.

 

In pursuit of greater opportunities, Marco Polo moved to New York City in the early 2000s. His initial steps in the bustling New York music scene included an internship at The Cutting Room Studios, where he immersed himself in the craft of music production, working and learning in an environment that has seen the birth of numerous notable records.

 

Marco Polo’s breakthrough came in 2007 with the release of his solo studio album, “Port Authority.” This album not only showcased his proficiency in blending intricate beats with compelling rhythms but also earned him a nomination for Rap Recording of the Year at the 2008 Juno Awards. His ability to craft soundscapes that resonate with both hardcore hip hop aficionados and casual listeners alike marked him as a significant figure in the industry.

 

Building on his success, Marco Polo expanded his discography through collaborations with various artists. In 2009, he teamed up with rapper Torae to release “Double Barrel,” and in 2010, he collaborated with Ruste Juxx on “The Exxecution.” Both projects were well-received and demonstrated his versatility and commitment to producing high-quality hip hop music.

 

In 2013, Marco Polo released “PA2: The Director’s Cut,” a sequel to his debut that further solidified his status as a skilled producer. The album was recognized once again at the Juno Awards, receiving a nomination for Rap Recording of the Year in 2015. His consistent ability to deliver fresh and engaging music has made him a revered name in the hip hop community.
